Step 3: Base Colors

Step 3: I work and rework my color layers until if find the colors that fit my color study. i normally start this by creating several copies of my value layer and tweak the colors but keep the values the same and see if several of the layers can work together and i work that way until i have my base colors down.

Step 4: Refining Color and Effects

Step 4: After I have my base colors I begin to create multiple layers of overlay and lighten to the fire in the window to create the effect of heat. i also change the ink line arts original colors to really hit home the idea of the skull glowing with heat. After Im satisfied with the fire and smoke i begin to work on the headless man.

Step 5: Finishing Touches

Step 5: After I am happy with the headless man, I move on to giving the type more power in the piece. I add in another layer behind the the type to give it more power within the piece. I also spend some time tightening up areas around the windows.
